A downloadable asset pack for Windows

This is a scene that I have made for the Grads in Games Search for a Star competition. The theme for this scene was a Roman Encampment site. This scene took me a week to make from scratch.

From that start, I wanted to make a scene that was small in scale. I wanted to go for a simplistic and fun look rather than for a realistic complex one. I also wanted to be unique since after looking at previous submissions for last year I noticed that everyone made either and indoors scene or a space sci-fi one with no organic elements to it.

The inspiration to make this scene came from me watching documentaries about the Romans. I always liked the emblems and decorations that they used and I wanted to make something that would use them.

I have spent the longest time working on the procedural tree system withing Houdini. I made parameters that allow me to control wide range of tools to modify the tree. I am able to change the amount of branches and their position but also how much leaves the branches generate and the size of the leaves. I have also made LOD versions of the prime tree that maintain its original look but save on performance.

Overall, I am happy how the scene turned out although I wish I had more time to add more small details to the scene like rocks and fallen branches to make it look ever so slightly better.

To make this scene, I have used Houdini 18, Substance Painter 2019 and Maya 2019.
